Abstract

Transaction allocation aims at pin‐pointing the responsibility and incurred costs for the transactions in the transmission network operating in the open access mode. The basic question for the operation and planning in this changing industry is who is paying for what and through which line? As an answer to that problem, this paper offers the transaction allocation symbolic analysis based method. The symbolic analysis approach here introduces a bilateral transaction of active power as a compact, analytical expression, which could further be exposed to sensitivity analysis as with linear networks. The multilateral transaction analysis is also conveyed. The novel approach is demonstrated on a five‐node popular test network. Copyright © 2004 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
